Christmas Bells(historical fiction) by Jennier Chiaverini.
In this delightful story the past and present are intertwined. The story unites Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and his poem-turned-Christmas hymn, “Christmas Bells”, with the lives of eight modern day characters who all share in their involvement with the activities of an historic church in Boston. Reading this book is a great and uplifting way to start the Christmas season.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT: GIFT CARDS
For several years, Newcomers & Neighbors has had a tradition of donating gift cards in multiples of $10.00 to give to non-profit community organizations for the holidays. This year we have chosen The Shepherds Center, a senior center on Ebert Road, that provides social services to hundreds of seniors in our community who lack basic services. Each year the Center gives qualifying seniors a shopping bag of much needed toiletries, household items, food and gift cards. HOW CAN YOU HELP? Please purchase one or more gift cards in $10 denominations (i.e., buy 2 $10 gift cards rather than one $20 card). Preferred stores for your gift cards: . . . Walmart . . . Food Lion . . . Walgreens . . . CVS. Please bring the card(s) with you to the Holiday Party on Friday, December 6. If you are not attending the party, you may bring the card(s) to the November 26 General Meeting.

SAVE THE DATE DAY TRIP GALS: Saturday, January 11, 2010 — Foothills Brewery Tour: Barley. Hops. Yeast. Water.
Join the Day Trip Gals on a brewery tour and learn how these four simple ingredients get transformed into delicious craft beer. The tour will take you through the entire beer-making process, from milling the grain to bottling and kegging to, most importantly, drinking. There is no cost for the tour but, tastings are available for a charge before and after the tour.
Foothills began brewing beer in March 2005 on West Fourth Street and the demand was so great that they expanded to a 48,000 square foot warehouse on 3800 Kimwell Drive, W-S, where our tour will take place. They brew several varieties of beers, such as IPA, Pilsner, Golden Ale, Pale Ale, Stout and Moravian Porter.
